Brussels

Introduction

In addition to being Belgium’s capital city, Brussels is the capital of Europe and the beating heart of the European Union. Its European district is unique and its renowned squares, like the Grand-Place, are prestigious. During WWII Brussels suffered from Nazi occupation until the liberation came on September 3, 1944. In the violent clashes that ensued in the Parc du Cinquantenaire, many lives were lost and severe damage was done to the region. Visit the impressive Museum of the Armed Forces, symbolically located in the Cinquantenaire, to further your knowledge of conflict and military history. Gaze over an exceptional collection of planes, guns, tanks and more, and experience a beautiful view over the capital on the arcade of the museum. Visit the House of European History, close to the European Parliament, to extend your journey along the paths of Europe’s history.
