This British war cemetery contains the graves of 1,754 Allied troops. Most of the soldiers who were killed during Operation Market Garden lie buried here. There are no Americans in this cemetery. Their remains were either repatriated, or were interred in the cemetery of the American Battle Monument Commission in Margraten.
In the cemetery stands a ‘Cross of Sacrifice’, bearing a bronze sword. This cross stands as symbol for all soldiers who died in the Netherlands during the Second World War. A ‘Stone of Remembrance’ also stands in the cemetery. The text on the stone reads: ‘THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE’.
