As the fate of gays and lesbians during the Second World War has long been unknown, this exhibition highlights a facet of this war that was taboo until recently.
Like the Jews, gays and lesbians were persecuted during the German occupation. It is estimated that around 100,000 homosexuals were registered by the Nazi regime. Until March, the Shoah Memorial gives you the opportunity to learn more about the treatment of homosexuals and lesbians, whether they were resistance fighters, Jews or even sympathizers of the Hitler regime, through the story of their different life paths.
