When two Austrian researchers photographed over a hundred Jewish families in the Tarnów ghetto in March 1942 – at that time a German-occupied city – a unique report was created. Of the 565 people photographed, only 26 survived the Holocaust. Of the others, only the pictures and short biographies remain.
This exhibition has two axes on which it focuses. On the one hand, it presents the photos of these researchers, and on the other, it tells of the lives of the Jews of Tarnów and their fate during the German occupation.
The exhibition is a collaboration between the Topography of Terror Foundation, the Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and the Natural History Museum in Vienna.
