Introduction

The Nazi occupation of Paris during WWII was a tormented time in French history. When the war came to an end, the liberation of the French capital on August 25, 1944, became a very strong symbol. Nowadays, you will find various historic sites and remnants of war in the City of Lights. At the outstanding Pantheon Church, you can visit the graves of four men and women who resisted the Nazis. In the area around Luxembourg, you will find the headquarters of the German Luftwaffe and see impacts from the fighting there on August 25, 1944. Stand before luxury hotels that were occupied by the Germans during the war, such as the Lutetia and the Ritz. Follow the steps of the Parade for the Liberation while walking down the majestic Champs-Élysées. Visit the Memorial Leclerc and Jean Moulin Museum to recall the course of the liberation of the city.
