A trip which will allow your students to discover the daily life in Berlin and Krakow during the Second World War and in particular the Holocaust. Furthermore, a focus will be on the aftermaths of the war and the daily life during the Cold War, and the involvement of Allies from 1945 to 1994.
Arrival in Berlin, discovery of Postdammer Platz and visit of the Resistance Museum, walk in the old Jewish Quarter. In the afternoon, a guided tour of the Jewish museum, then a visit to the Museum of the wall ‘Haus am checkpoint Charlie’.
Day 2Visit to the Allied Museum, and then panoramic bus tour: the Brandenburg Gate, passage in front of Reichstag, avenue of Lime trees, Ku’ Damm. Visit to the DDR museum and the German Russian Museum.
Day 3Departure to Krakow, arrival at your accommodation.
Day 4Guided tour of the old town and of the hill of Wawel. Guided walk through the old Jewish district Kazimierz.
Day 5Auschwitz: visit of the camp.
On the way back, visit to the salt mines of Wieliczka classified on the world heritage of the UNESCO.
Day 6Visit to the district of Podgorze, former ghetto, and of the exhibition in the old factory Schindler.
Free time and return journey.
