Full day excursion with a private driver and guide to discover the history of the city of Catania, in Sicily, Italy.

You will visit the headquarter of General Montgomery, the famous historical Museum of the landing in Sicily in 1943, and all the traditional Sicilian culture of the “black city” built with the lava stone of the Mount Etna.

Walking through the old town full of roman and baroque monuments, your guide will tell you everything about the period of the Second World War in Italy, and especially in Sicily, from beginning of the war to the Allies landings and the armistice of Cassibile.

Pick-up in the morning by driver and guide to reach the city centre of Catania, the second largest city of Sicily.

Visit of the Palazzo Biscari, marvellous witness of the late baroque of the south east of Sicily, used in the fall of 1943 as the headquarter of British General Bernard Law Montgomery.

Continue with a walk through the baroque city centre to see the Cathedral and the colourful fish market.

After lunch break, visit the WWII landing Museum of Catania, one of the largest in Europe, and the Commonwealth Cemetery, before returning to the hotel.
