This guided visit to historic Berlin will introduce visitors to the incredible story of Berlin in the Twentieth Century. From the fall of the Second Reich to the creation of the Weimar Republic through to the Rise of the Nazis and their ultimate defeat, and into the Cold War, this tour is a dynamic and exciting journey. Your tour will include visits to the key Berlin sites of the Second Reich, the Weimar Republic, the Third Reich and the Cold War. This will include guided visits on key battlefield and historic sites as well as entry to some outstanding museums.

Day 1

Arrive in Berlin | Meet Tour Director and check-in to hotel |  Welcome drink and tour briefing followed by dinner

Day 2

Potsdam: Visit to the Palace of Sanssouci | Picnic lunch | Cecilienhof | Glienicke Bridge | Return to Berlin | Free evening

Day 3

Travel to Reichstag by coach |  Visit Reichstag |   Brandenburg Gate | Soviet Memorial |  Lunch will be at leisure on Unter den Linden | Visit the site of the Nazi book burning on Bebelplatz | Neue Wache |  Museum of German History | End of today’s tour, explore Berlin on own occasion if preferred

Day 4

Today focuses on the Third Reich: Visit Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp | Olympic Stadium | Lunch in Olympic Stadium | Topography of Terror museum | German Resistance Memorial (Operation Valkyrie) | Dinner tonight will be on a dinner river cruise

Day 5

The Battle of the Seelow Heights marked the start of the Red Army’s Operation Berlin, the capture and final defeat of Nazi Germany | We will drive by coach to the Seelow Museum | Tour of the Seelow Heights, including visits to Marshal Zhukov’s bunker and iconic battlefield sites | Lunch | Jahnsfelde | Dinner

Day 6

Today we will walk the streets of Berlin to look at scenes of the fighting from both the German defenders and Soviet attackers perspectives |  Visit the site of ‘the Führerbunker’ |  Lunch |  German air raid bunker and a look at the air campaign over Berlin

Day 7

Today is our Cold War day | We will move by coach to a series of visits, including the Bernauer Street outdoor museum | The Stasi Prison | The DDR Museum | Checkpoint Charlie

End of tour | Drop off at airport
