Pick-up at Bologna airport and transfer to Pesaro, part of the Gothic Line and accommodation in the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 2The “Olive” operation. Meets Churchill and the Allied Army following soldier footsteps
Breakfast at the hotel and start your travel back in time to discover the history of the Gothic line. Transfer to Montemaggiore al Metauro, English Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill and General Alexander went here to observe the troop deployment in the Metauro valley and where the “Olive” operation started . You will discover important places of offensive battle against the Gothic Line. You will visit the Museum and then, accompanied by our guide. Later, you will follow the Canadian army footsteps until Montecchio War Cemetery with 582 Commonwealth Burials of the Second World War. You will than reach Tavullia for a visit of the Canadian Memorial Q.204. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3The history of little villages and communities: Montegridolfo, the Tavoleto battle, the war museums of Casinina and Montescudo, the Commonwealth cemetery of Coriano. Special evening in Pesaro
Breakfast at the hotel. This day is dedicated to discover the little villages and communities that has been protagonist of the battles along the Gothic line. Accompanied by our guides, you will visit the Gothic line museum of Montegridolfo, the building resembles a bunker and has been built above a Germans observing site. Passing thought Tavoleto you will reach at first the war museum in Casinina, that hosts more than 3,000 war findings and rare collections of original sets and equipment, and then Montescudo, to visit the ruins of the medieval church of Saint Peter bombed in September ’44. The church has been restored and converted into the Museum of the Eastern Gothic Line and Peace Church. Transfer to Coriano, to visit one of the biggest Commonwealth soldier cemeteries of Italy. Back to the hotel. Easy walking night tour in the historical town and dinner in the oldest “Osteria” of Pesaro. Overnight.
Day 4The II world war cemetery of Gradara, San Bartolo hill…strategical war bunker and a nice taste of local products
Breakfast at the hotel. Short transfer to Gradara, one of the most beautiful Medieval castle in Italy, and visit of the Commonwealth Cemetery. Then you will reach a local farm on the San Bartolo hill, which preserves a war bunker and other evidences of the Gothic line to enjoy a tasting of local products and wines. After that, you will have a stop lunch in a typical restaurant where you could see other war locations. In the afternoon transfer to another important site of the Gothic line, Giogo Pass in Tuscany, where it took place another violent and bloody battle between the V allied army led by General Clark and the German army. Transfer to the Hotel in Borgo San Lorenzo area, dinner and overnight.
Day 5Giogo pass, a jump inside the battle, army position and original war artifacts
Breakfast in the hotel. Short transfer to discover the “Passo del Giogo”, the main Tuscan part of the Gothic line. A nice walk on the site where there was located the last German-Italian alley fortified line that has been theatre of a furious battle. You will visit the battle field walking around strategic military placements completely restored to recreate the atmosphere of the war. Stop lunch. In the afternoon visit of the Gothic line museum that offers unique emotions, such as the visit to the gloomy atmosphere of the German bunker faithfully rebuilt inside museum spaces, and preserves also a rich collection of personal effects, uniforms and war equipment. At the end of the visit transfer to the hotel dinner and overnight.
Day 6Departure
Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport in Bologna. End of service.
